Hi Reader, What do Palm Sunday, Quantum Physics, and your brain have in common? Let's find out... Your brain is the world’s most advanced Google filter. But instead of sorting cat videos or conspiracy theories about who shot JFK, it filters reality based on your beliefs and causes your world to change in front of your eyes...well...at least how you perceive the world around you. Quantum Physics is proving this to be the case. What is quantum physics? The branch of science that studies how the tiniest particles in the universe—like atoms and photons—behave in ways that often defy logic, such as being in two places at once or changing when observed. Back in the early 1800s, a physicist named Thomas Young conducted a Double Slit Experiment where he shot tiny particles of light (photons) at a barrier with two slits, expecting the particles to go through one slit or the other and hit a screen behind it in two neat lines. But something bizarre happened. Instead of forming two lines, the particles created an interference pattern—a series of light and dark bands—like ripples in a pond. Wait, what? To solve the mystery, scientists set up a detector to observe which slit each particle actually went through. Interpretation? Wild, right? It's like the universe says, “I’ll only decide what’s real once you’re paying attention.” How does this apply to your reality? Your brain’s version of a particle detector is your belief system. This is Selective Perception 101—your brain literally tunes out observations and opportunities that don’t match your core beliefs. What does this have to do with Palm Sunday? It’s the day Jesus rolled into town on a donkey while people waved palm branches, shouting, "Hosanna!" (basically the ancient version of trending on Instagram.) What changed? Some believed He was their savior. Your beliefs about Jesus are influencing your perception of the world right now. If you really believe in him, you'll find peace and joy. If you don't, you probably won't. So what’s the takeaway? If observation changes reality, and your beliefs guide what you observe, then upgrading your beliefs upgrades your life. This week, take inventory of your beliefs and notice what you adamantly repeat and defend. You get to keep what you argue for, so make sure it's what you actually want. :) Tim Shurr P.S. Hi Reader, Today I’ve officially taken 55 trips around the sun! Turning 55 feels like one of those significant milestones in life, and now that AARP is stalking me to join and I'm old enough to live in the wild Del Webb senior villages in Florida, I've noticed that: I now make noises when I stand up for no apparent reason. I can pull a muscle just sleeping wrong. I hear myself telling my teenager, "When I was your age..." I genuinely appreciate the value of a nap! But getting older also comes...
Hi Reader, I'm reading a book called Courage and Confidence from the Bible by Walter Moore. A passage says, "I'm watching a workman, and I almost thought he was confused, until I learned that he was not building a table, but rather a bookshelf. Mistaking his purpose, I could see no reason for his actions. So it is difficult for us to see that 'all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose,' until we discover that his purpose is to...
